Where to View the Las Vegas Sphere for Free

Last updated 08/01/24

The Sphere is the newest one of a kind venue just off the Las Vegas Strip. The outside of the Sphere is made up of 1.2 million LED pucks spaced 8 inches apart. Each puck has 48 LEDs. So, it’s the biggest LED screen in the world. And they project incredible images that rotate from the planets in our solar system to an emoji face that is hilarious.

The Sphere can be seen from many points all across the Las Vegas Valley. These are 7 spots we recommend for the easiest access and the best views, and they are free.

We also have this handy dandy map to show you where each spot is.

1. Next to the Sphere

There was a time when you could walk right up to the Sphere. Someone decided to climb the Sphere and now there are fences around so you can’t get as close as you used to. But, just like putting your head against a TV screen, you won’t be able to see the image as well unless you move back a bit. Back a lot. Even if you can’t see what’s being projected as well, you should walk up to the Sphere just to get a perspective on the size of it all. The easiest access is to walk east on Sands Ave. from Las Vegas Blvd.

2. The Palazzo / Wynn Pedestrian Bridge

The pedestrian bridge across Sands Ave. from the Palazzo Casino to the Wynn Casino is one of the most convenient spots to view the Sphere. You have to go to the Wynn side of the bridge to get a good view. The bridge is accessable from outside of both casinos.

3. The Venetian Parking Garage

This one is kinda free. If you drive into the garage there is a fee, but you could always walk into the garage. Take the Venetian garage elevator to the 10th floor. Then find the other elevator that will take you to the 14th floor.

4. Manhattan Street and Westchester Drive

Manhattan Street runs along the east side of the Sphere and Westchester Drive is the road to the south. All along Manhattan Street is parking and views, sometimes. There are always views but the parking is just sometimes. The parking along the street is blocked off when there are shows going on at the Sphere. During off times, or off days, you will have no problem parking and taking photos to your hearts desire. The F1 stands have obstructed some views but there is still plenty of spots left. Westchester Drive has great views of the Sphere but parking along the road is not as good. Parking on Manhattan and walking down Westchester is your safest bet.

5. Sands Ave.

Sands Ave. runs along the north side of the Sphere. The entrance is also on the Sands Ave. side. Anywhere along Sands Ave. from Las Vegas Blvd. to Paradise Rd. will have a good view of the Sphere. The farther east you go the more sketchy it gets. Don’t go past Paradise. That might even be to far.

6. Encore Parking Garage

So the Encore garage is free for the first 3 hours. You should be able to get in and out in plenty of time. Drive to the 7th floor and walk up the stairs to the roof. The Encore garage is north of the Sphere. There is a decent view of Resorts World on the other side of the garage, but their giant LED just runs ads. Unlike some of the other spots, like the Wynn/Palazzo bridge, you won’t have to fight for space here. If you have a car this is a spot you should consider.

7. The Flamingo Garage or Linq Parking Lot

The Linq Parking Lot is next to Koval Street, which runs along the west side of the Sphere. The Linq parking lot goes down to Westchester St. After Westchester Street the Wynn employee parking garage starts and pretty much blocks all view of the Sphere, unless you get above it in the Venetian Garage. The Linq parking lot is not the most exotic place on our list, but it is a great view. Almost the same view as the Ling parking lot is the Flamingo parking garage, just a little higher.

Not Free Options You Should Consider

The High Roller at the Linq. You should probably want to ride the giant Ferris wheel for more than just taking photos of the Sphere, but if your going anyway you can get some really good shots.

The Monorail. The monorail goes right by the Sphere, but you have to be quick. You also won’t get much selection in images because you can’t wait around for the Sphere to change.

Certain hotel rooms at the Palazzo, Venetian, Encore, Wynn, Harrah’s, Flamingo, Linq, and Horseshoe Casinos. If you call and make a reservation they can tell you what side of hotel faces the Sphere. The higher the room the better. You have to stay somewhere, right. Might as well be with a view.

Where Not To Go

There are several parking garages and buildings around the area that are private property and not open to the public. The Wynn and Venetian employee garages are two of the most notable. They are right next to the Sphere and have excellent views, but they also have security. If caught on their property you will probably just be escorted out. However, they could trespass you from their entire property if they want. There are so many great places to get views and photos of the Sphere it’s just not worth it to trespass on someone’s property.

Also, don’t walk out onto Sands Ave. Sands is a busy three lanes in each direction and there are a lot of casino employees trying to get home. The whole area can be really chaotic and no one is looking for pedestrians jaywalking. Again, it’s just not worth it.

Have Fun

One last thing to consider is when you see the Sphere. At night is obviously better than daytime, however you can still see most images just fine all day. Our favorite time is when the very last rays of light are disappearing. We like it when you can see the city and it’s starting to light up as well. At a certain time of night, usually around 3am, the Sphere becomes the moon and stays that way until the next day. So if you want to view some variety you need to get there before you go to the club.

Good luck and good hunting for that perfect picture of the Sphere. There’s no telling what your going to see minute to minute, so when you see something you like don’t hesitate. Stay safe, and stay weird Las Vegas.
