Las Vegas vacations can be expensive, but not everything in Las Vegas costs an arm and a leg. Here are some of our favorite free things for families to do in Las Vegas. Some of these won’t take to long but combine a few and you could fill an afternoon without breaking the bank.
1. Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory
Location: Bellagio Casino at 3600 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: Fountains Mon – Fri 3pm – 6:30 every half hour; 7pm – 12am every 15 minutes. Sat – Sun 12pm – 6:30pm every half hour; 7pm – 12am every 15 minutes. Conservatory is open 24 hrs.
The Bellagio Fountains are one of the most iconic things in Las Vegas. You’ve seen them in movies and tv shows and you should absolutely see them in person. The Bellagio Fountains are a mesmerizing aquatic show combining water, music, and light. The fountains span over 1,000 feet with water soaring as high as 460 feet into the air, choreographed to a diverse range of music from classical to contemporary. The fountain show utilizes more than 1,200 nozzles and 4,500 lights, creating a captivating spectacle that attracts visitors from around the world. The Bellagio Fountains are a quintessential part of the Las Vegas experience, offering a breathtaking display of artistic engineering and entertainment against the backdrop of the iconic Las Vegas Strip.
After watching the fountains go inside the Bellagio to see the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. It’s a stunning 14,000-square-foot floral haven that captivates visitors with its seasonal displays. Each exhibit, meticulously crafted by a team of horticulturists and designers, features thousands of plants, flowers, and trees arranged in imaginative and intricate designs. The displays change five times a year—Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and a special Chinese New Year exhibit—ensuring a unique experience with every visit.
2. Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
Location: Flamingo Casino at 3555 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: Everyday 7am – 8pm
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is something we have to walk through anytime we are at the Flamingo. This 15-acre habitat is home to a variety of exotic birds, including Chilean flamingos, which are the star attraction. You can also see swans, ducks, koi fish, and turtles in beautifully landscaped gardens featuring lush foliage, waterfalls, and ponds. The habitat provides a peaceful oasis with winding pathways and shaded seating areas, perfect for leisurely strolls and relaxation. The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat combines natural beauty and educational opportunities, allowing guests to learn about the diverse species through informative signage and scheduled feeding sessions. At 10am every day there is a talk by one of the wildlife Keepers where you can learn more about the wildlife habitat. This is a must-visit for nature lovers and families seeking a unique experience.
3. M&M, Hershey, and Coca Cola stores
Location: M&M store – 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Hershey store – New York, New York Casino at 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Coca Cola store – 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: M&M store everyday 9am – midnight. Hershey store Sun – Thu 9am – midnight, Fri & Sat 9am – 1am. Coca Cola store everyday 10am – 10pm.
These three are kind of a cheat for this list. Yes, they are free to go in an look around. Yes, they have some really neat things to see. Yes, you might spend some money and that makes them not so free. You don’t have to spend anything, stay strong.
This 28,000 square foot, four-level monument to the colorful fun of M&M’S was the first M&M’S store location ever. It features interactive exhibits, personalized M&M’s, and a wide array of merchandise. Kids will enjoy the fun displays and a 3D movie, making it a must-visit for chocolate enthusiasts.
The Hershey’s Chocolate World in the New York, New York Casino is a sweet paradise for families. Located on the Strip, it offers interactive experiences, personalized candy bars, and a vast selection of Hershey’s treats. Kids will love the giant chocolate sculptures and unique souvenirs, making it a delightful stop for chocolate lovers.
The Coca-Cola Store in Las Vegas is a must-visit for families. Located on the Strip, it features a vast array of Coca-Cola merchandise, a tasting experience with beverages from around the world, and a rooftop bar. It’s a fun and refreshing stop that offers unique souvenirs and memorable experiences.
4. Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory
Location: 2 Cactus Garden Dr, Henderson, NV 89014
Hours: Everyday 10am – 6pm
The Ethel M Chocolate Factory is off the Strip so you’ll have to get a ride there, but it’s worth the trip. It’s a delight for chocolate lovers, but there is more there than just chocolate. Like all chocolate factories I’ve been to, so far just one, there is a cactus garden outside the factory for visitors to walk through. In the factory you are greeted by the enticing aroma of chocolate and can watch skilled chocolatiers at work through large glass windows. They don’t just tease you by showing you their chocolate, they give you a free sample of their delectable creations, allowing guests to savor one of a variety of chocolates. After the tour, you have to walk through the serene beauty of the botanical cactus garden, which showcases a stunning array of desert plants. For me the cactus garden is why I go to Ethel M’s. This unique combination of indulgent treats and natural beauty makes the Ethel M Chocolate Factory a must-visit destination. If you visit during the Christmas season the Cactus Garden is decorated with lights like Clark Griswold’s house.
5. Welcome To Las VegasSign
Location: 5100 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89119
Hours: Open 24 hours
The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign is an iconic landmark located at the southern end of the Strip, just past Mandalay Bay Casino. Erected in 1959 and designed by Betty Willis, the sign features bold, retro-style lettering and bright lights that capture the essence of Las Vegas’ vibrant spirit. Standing 25 feet tall, it welcomes millions of visitors each year, offering a perfect photo opportunity for tourists. The sign is a symbol of the city’s glamorous allure and bustling entertainment scene. Its classic design and historical significance make it a beloved emblem of the city.
6. The Wetlands or Lone Mountain
Location: 7050 Wetlands Park Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89122
Hours: The park is open from dawn to dusk everyday. The Nature Center is open Tues – Sun 9am – 3pm.
The last thing you expect in the desert is a lush, green park with ponds and wildlife. This expansive natural preserve spans over 2,900 acres and offers a diverse array of activities for nature lovers of all ages. The park features numerous trails suitable for walking, biking, and bird-watching, allowing families to explore the beautiful wetlands and observe local wildlife, including birds, turtles, and lizards. The Nature Center provides interactive exhibits and educational programs that are both fun and informative for children. Scenic picnic spots and shaded areas offer a perfect setting for a family picnic. The park’s tranquil environment and lush landscapes provide a refreshing outdoor adventure. Whether you’re hiking the trails, learning about the ecosystem, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings it’s a literal oasis in the desert.

Hours: Everyday 7am – 11pm.
If your family wants a more vigorous outdoor adventure the Lone Mountain might be for you. Lone Mountain in Las Vegas is a striking, isolated peak offering a fantastic outdoor escape for nature enthusiasts and families. Located in the northwest part of the city, this small mountain stands out in the suburban landscape, providing scenic hiking trails with varying difficulty levels. Allow your family at least 2 hours to make it to the peak. The main trail to the summit is a moderately challenging hike, rewarding climbers with panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley and the surrounding desert. The area also features a park with picnic spots, playgrounds, and open spaces for recreation. Lone Mountain is a unique piece of mountain backcountry plopped down in the middle of a city.
7. Circus Circus
Location: 2880 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: Circus Acts – Sun – Thu starting at 1:30pm, Fri & Sat starting at 11:30am
Circus Circus certainly has it’s drawbacks but we think it is an excellent choice for families seeking fun and excitement. This iconic casino offers a variety of attractions perfect for all ages. Daily free circus acts, including acrobats, jugglers, and clowns, provide entertainment for the whole family. The Midway offers classic arcade games and carnival-style prizes, ensuring hours of fun. Dining options cater to all tastes, with family-friendly restaurants and buffets available. The spacious, comfortable rooms are designed to accommodate families. With its unique blend of gaming, entertainment, and family-friendly attractions, Circus Circus Casino offers a memorable and enjoyable experience for families.
8. Container Park
Location: 707 E Fremont St, Las Vegas, NV 89101
Hours: Mon – Thu 11:30am – 11pm, Fri 11am – 1am, Sat 10am – 1am, Sun 10am – 11pm
Container Park is a unique, open-air shopping and entertainment venue located near Downtown Las Vegas. Constructed entirely from repurposed shipping containers, this innovative space features a mix of boutique shops, diverse dining options, and lively entertainment. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a 35-foot-tall praying mantis sculpture that breathes fire at night, setting the tone for the park’s creative vibe. The park includes a children’s play area with a treehouse and interactive playground, making it family-friendly. Throughout the park, there’s a strong emphasis on local art, with numerous installations and murals. Regular events, such as outdoor concerts and movie nights, add to the vibrant atmosphere. We’ve always found it a relaxing place that we can get some drinks while the kids run off all of their extra energy.
9. The Sphere
Location: 255 Sands Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89169
Hours: The outside is on Everyday, all day.
The Sphere is an awe-inspiring, cutting-edge entertainment venue that promises a unique experience for families. This massive, globe-shaped structure features a fully immersive LED display both inside and out, creating stunning visual spectacles. The Sphere hosts a variety of events, including concerts, sports, and family-friendly shows, all enhanced by state-of-the-art sound and visual technology. Inside, the seating is designed for comfort and optimal viewing from any angle, ensuring an engaging experience for everyone. The exterior of the Sphere comes alive at night with vibrant light displays, making it a must-see attraction even from the outside. Additionally, the surrounding area offers dining and shopping options, making it easy to spend an entire day enjoying the entertainment and amenities. Visiting the Sphere provides a blend of futuristic technology and world-class entertainment, making it a memorable destination for families exploring Las Vegas. There are several good locations to see the Sphere for free anytime you want.
10. Mermaid Show at Silverton
Location: 3333 Blue Diamond Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89139
Hours: Aquarium – 24 hours, Mermaid Show – every 30 minutes, or so, after 4pm
The Aquarium and Mermaid Show at the Silverton Casino offers a magical experience perfect for families. The 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium is home to over 4,000 tropical fish, stingrays, and sharks, creating a vibrant underwater world that captivates visitors of all ages. The main attraction is the mesmerizing Mermaid Show, where costumed mermaids swim gracefully among the sea life, performing interactive routines that delight both children and adults. Kids can even interact with the mermaids through the glass. The aquarium also features daily feeding shows and informative presentations by marine biologists, adding an educational aspect to the visit. In addition to the aquarium in the Silverton you should visit the various aquariums and water features in the Bass Pro Shops attached to the Silverton Casino.
11. Dinosaur House
Location: 733 Greenway Road, Henderson, NV, 89002
Hours: Mon 11am – 3:30pm, Tues – Sun 11am – 4pm
This homeowner is kinda a big fan of dinosaurs. The Dinosaur House is one of the most amazing places we’ve seen in Las Vegas. The dinosaur display is FREE. The display operates every day of the year except Halloween. It is closed during the day to get ready for the big night when up to 6,000 people in five hours are expected. You will be as wide eyed and amazed as your kids when you see one of the most unique houses ever. Be sure to talk to the homeowner, he has some great stories about where and how he got some of the dinosaurs you see.
12. Fall of Atlantis Show at Caesar’s Forum Shops
Location: Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops – 3500 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: Thu – Mon noon – 8pm, closed Tues & Wed
Long heralded as a “must see” and consistently named among the top free attractions in Las Vegas, the widely-popular animatronic attraction The Fall of Atlantis is an entertaining take on the legendary story of the ill-fated city of Atlantis. The show takes place in a grand, Roman-themed setting, captivating audiences with its dramatic storytelling, impressive special effects, and lifelike characters. The show tells the tale of King Atlas and his children, who battle for control of Atlantis, featuring fire, water, and high-energy sound effects. With more than 400 moving parts in each statue that comes to life, the combination of mythical lore and modern technology creates a visually stunning experience that will mesmerize both kids and adults. Surrounding the show area, the Forum Shops offer an array of dining and shopping options. With its engaging narrative and spectacular presentation, the Fall of Atlantis Show provides a delightful break from shopping and an unforgettable experience.
13. Mystic Falls at Sam’s Town

Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall is an indoor park, nestled under a glass atrium, featuring lush landscaping, towering trees, and a serene waterfall cascading into a tranquil pond. The park’s highlight is the hourly laser and water show, where music, lights, and water fountains create a mesmerizing spectacle that captivates visitors of all ages. Children will love exploring the paths and bridges that wind through the park, while parents can relax on benches, enjoying the peaceful ambiance. The natural beauty combined with the engaging show makes Mystic Falls Park a delightful destination. Conveniently located within Sam’s Town, it provides easy access to dining options and other family-friendly activities, ensuring a fun and memorable visit. There are several free, unique, places to visit just outside Las Vegas. Here are a couple of our favorites.
Hemenway Park is in Boulder City on the way to Hoover Dam is a charming spot offering playgrounds, picnic areas, and stunning views of Lake Mead. Known for its resident bighorn sheep, the park provides a unique wildlife viewing experience. It’s a peaceful, scenic location perfect for family outings and enjoying nature.
Mount Charleston near Las Vegas offers a refreshing escape with cooler temperatures and scenic trails. Families can hike among towering pine trees, picnic in peaceful meadows, and enjoy stunning mountain views. It’s a perfect day trip for outdoor adventure and relaxation just outside the city.
Hoover Dam is an engineering marvel and historic landmark. Families can take guided tours to explore the massive structure, learn about its construction, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Colorado River and Lake Mead. It’s an educational and awe-inspiring experience for all ages. It is free to walk on the dam and there are free parking lots across the dam up the mountain.
You can’t go wrong no matter which one of these free things you do. Las Vegas is like those neat, quirky, roadside attractions you see on a road trip, but times 10 and cost millions. Las Vegas casinos created some of the most unique attractions to attract visitors and you reap the benefits.
